THE following photos detail my families visit to Washington Mall located in South Strabane Pennsylvania. It slowly began to lose tenants and then the management succeded in chasing out the remaining merchants with big plans to turn it into an open air mall similar to the Waterfront Development in Homestead, PA (Pittsburgh). That was over three years ago and as you can see, it never materialized.

IT had been about a year since the last time that I was there and in that time they have managed to lose three more stores, a Hallmark, Rex TV and Appliances and a Doggy Daycare. The photos start at the entrance sandwiched by the now gone Rex and still there Eckerd. The montage of JoAnn Fabric is the other end and we walk our way back through ending up at the Rex again. I was taken aback by the mold smell in the air from the leaking roofs and the lack of heating and lighting. You’ll also notice that a lot of the store gates are opened along with some of the doors as well. Yes, we did venture into a few of the stores and they just had a lot of junk in them. It is a pretty cool experience to walk through this 21st century version of a ghost town.

wow, that's crazy.

I grew up a little north of that area.

Worked at the Game Exchange a long long time ago and used to like live at the arcade there.

Tis sad.
